Abstract

During December 2009, Baende Freddy, accompanied by 8 others unidentified people, went to the forest on the outskirts of Epena for a hunting trip. There, using a 10-75 type rifle, they killed an elephant. Baende Freddy recovered the liquid found in the lungs and the ivories to sell them and he was thus arrested by the departmental director of water and forests.

Baende Freddy was sentenced to 5 years firm imprisonment and to pay XAF 5000000 (five millions) as fines. The accused was sentenced to pay the costs. An arrest warrant was established against him. The imprisonment per body was fixed to 12 months for the recovery of fines, 3 months for court fees.
