Sidi Mathieu estimated that ivory trade could end his misery and multiplied contacts to get in possession of a war weapon. He then met with a Cameroonian named Bassirou who provided him with a PMK war weapon and two full loaders. Sidi Mathieu then contacted his two brothers-in-law Singa Paul and Dapoum Arnauld to carry out a big hunting expedition inside a wildlife reserve. On November 28, 2011, all three decided to hunt with a war weapon at Seka village, Mokeko district and met with a female elephant who had just giving birth. The elephant attacked them in order to protect her cub. Each of the three took his direction and Singa Paul climbed on top of a tree. He heard cries of distress coming from the direction that Dapoum took. Singa then killed the elephant in order to defend Dapoum.
