In January 2013, the accused persons KOMBO, NGOUKI & MABOULE took up war arms and ammunitions (Kalashnikov) and went to the Dja Biosphere reserve to poach elephants. Upon getting to the zone, they were lodged by Ngbwah Herman who also oriented them on how to poach elephants. After killing four elephants, they returned to the village on the night of the 24 to the 25 and broke into the camp of the Belgian project on the protection of Great Apes. Wearing military uniforms and bearing heavy weapons, they successfully robbed the office of 159.000 XAF, one laptop, a camcorder, a digital camera, and other stuffs and escaped. Investigations were carried out by the gendarmerie and a few days later KOMBO Eric and NGOUKI Elvis were arrested while attempting to charge the stolen electronics and MABOULE escaped. Further investigations led to the arrest of NBWAH Jean. They were all interrogated, their offence reports established, and were forwarded to the State Attorney for prosecution.
