On 11 April 2017, the accused persons BIBE Jean & EMANE Marceline received a modern gun and food provisions from a certain MINYONO of Mfem Village to carry out elephant poaching in the Dja Biosphere Reserve. While searching for elephants in the reserve, they were arrested flagrante delicto by elements of the Dja conservation service on patrol in the reserve. Upon the arrest, other members of the group took to their heels and the two accused persons were arrested. The arm and ammunitions were seized. During interrogations, they all pleaded guilty and admitted committing the offences as charged. At the close of interrogations, they were all transmitted to the State Attorney together with the seized items for prosecution.
