Abstract

On the 09 May 2011, during a mission in the Dja Biosphere Reserve consisting of putting rings on elephants, the South Antenna of the Dja conservation service agents and the WWF caught red-handed OKPWA’A David, AKOULOU Achille Noel with unidentified others persons who succeeded to escape, in a hunting party with a prohibited arm. Upon their arrest, they were in possession of an arm and ammunitions. OKPWA’A David and AKOULOU Achille Noel confessed carrying out hunting in a protected area and they admitted that the gun was given to them by NNANGA Jean Richard. Following the arrest of OKPWA’A David and AKOULOU Achille Noel, the elements proceeded to arrest NNANGA Jean Richard who acknowledged giving a gun to OKPWA’A David for hunting, but denied having sent them in a protected area. After interrogations, together with the seized items, they were all transmitted to the State Attorney for prosecution.
