On July 25, 2017, police seized 53 animal products, 9 live pythons and 3 live chameleons, at the residence of Luo Mibo in Xishan District, Kunming. On July 25, 2017, Mibo L. was arrested by police; on July 31 of the same year, the defendant Sun Cai arrived at the case for investigation after being notified by police; on August 8 of the same year, the defendant Xin Q. was arrested.
