In October 2014, Yang contacted Feng to purchase ivory from "Pingge", and negotiated the transaction by cash on delivery. The batch of ivory was then handed over to Hong Kong by SF Express for delivery to Tianjin. On October 25, the batch of ivory was discovered by the staff during the transfer process at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and handed over to the Public Security Bureau. On November 4, Yang was arrested by the police after picking up at the delivery point of SF in Hongqiao District, Tianjin. On the spot, three sections of suspected ivory were found from the express package, and 12 suspected ivory pieces were found in the shoulder bag carried by Yang. After appraisal, the above-mentioned 3 suspected ivory products weighed 1.011 kg and valued 42,125 yuan; 12 suspected ivory products weighed 0.698 kg and valued 29,084 yuan. Yang and Feng confessed to having illegally purchased endangered wildlife products.
