The three accused were caught in possession of what was alleged to be Thompson gazelle, on the contrary the accused states that they were found with goat meat and its skin. They were arrested and taken to court.

The accused persons were charged jointly and severally for contravening various provisions of the laws governing and regulating possession and disposition of the Government trophies. The main charge around this case was unlawful exportation of wild animals with total value of Tshs. 170,575,500.

On 06/09/2010 at 20:00 hours the park rangers while on patrol at Muchuri area within Ikorongo/Grumeti Game Reserve, they saw torch lights and decided to make follow ups, they succeeded in arresting one person in possession of one killed Thomson Gazelle, one knife and the torch. He was arrested and taken to Mugumu Police station.

On 11.01.2010 at Meserani Duka Bovu area within Monduli District in Arusha the accused was found in unlawful possession of six dik-dik meat values at USD 260, one impala meat valued at USD 170 and Tommy gazelle meat valued at USD 140 property of the Tanzania Government.

On 31st March 2012 at Ilmolok Village, Longido District of Arusha region the accused was found in possession of Grant gazelle carcass. On the material day, 2 game reserve officers saw the accused saw the accused person carrying a sulphate bag. Upon being stopped, the accused started to run and the bag fell down.

On and about the 6th May 2008, at Emboreti area within Simanjiro District in Manyara region the accused person was found in possession of a Grant gazelle meat by the Anti-Poaching Unit during routine patrol. The accused person was riding a bicycle with a bucket on it. Upon being stopped, the Unit found gazelle meat in the bucket.

The accused and two others on and about 11st December 2011 at Mererani within Simanjiro District in Manyara region were found in possession of government trophies valued at Tshs. 9,024,000/= without a valid license from authorized authority.

The accused Mwajuma was charged of an offence of been in unlawful possession of the Government Trophy which is contrary to section 86 (1) of the Wildlife Conservation Act No. 5 of 2009 read together with Paragraph 14 (d) of the First Schedule to the Economic and Organized Crime Control Act Cap 200 of R.E 2002.

On 05/05/2013, the accused person was caught within SENAPA around Grumeti river, the accused was also found in possession of one knife, one carcass of impala and one carcass of Thompson gazelle. He was arrested and taken to KDU – Anti-Poaching Unit Bunda. However, the case was dismissed.
