In 2013, Zheng Mingpu and Lin Banghui and others jointly invested RMB 1.8 million to purchase ships for hunting red corals. In February 2014, Zheng Mingpu and others drove the reconstructed ship to the Pacific Ocean “Miyagu Island” to hunt red coral illegally.
On December 13, 2017, Shengjiang L. and Yongfang L. met and agreed to hunt for thrushes in the jurisdiction of Zunyi City. Subsequently, Yongfang L. drove a van to Shengjiang L.'s home. and Shengjiang L. placed the bird catching tool and an owl prepared in the car.
The Accused was arrested at Ishasha cell, Nyanga parish Kanungu District. The Accused was found to be in possession of specimen belonging to animals categorized as protected species contrary to the laws of the country. The Accused was charged and prosecuted at the Chief Magistrate Court of Kampala at Buganda Road.
