In 2017, elements of the conservation service of the Nki National park arrested some unidentified individuals in the said park for killing elephants. The other co-offenders escaped successfully with the loot leaving the accused. During interrogation the accused admitted his uncle the named LOGO EBOUAB Félicien, met the accused to demand for financial support to carry out poaching activities. He requested the sum of 150.000XAF, which the accused did not have. The uncle further met his younger brother, also a friend to the accused to convince the latter to give him the money saying he will have a percentage in the proceeds. The accused gave him the 150.000XAF and they scheduled a rendezvous in 2 weeks. He came to the appointed spot and nobody was there. Someone walked up to him and told him his friend escaped with the ivories to the forest. He went to the friends’ parents’ home and right up to Moloundou but was futile. He returned to the village and after 2 weeks, the friend came in the night and showed him 8 ivory tusks. Upon their way to sell, the ivories they bumped into Ecogardes and the other co-offenders escaped. Upon reaching yokadouma, Ecogardes arrested and detained him. He confessed carrying out poaching activities in 2015 and giving financial support in this operation to poach elephants. It was based on this that the accused was he was forwarded before the State Attorney of the Court of First Instance Yokadouma for prosecution.
