Abstract

From March to April 2016, the defendant Deng purchased one piece of ivory carving and a piece of ivory necklace from the WeChat friend Tong through the WeChat for a total of RMB 740. It was identified that the ivory carving originated from Asian elephant, weighing 15.20 grams and valued at RMB 633, and the ivory necklace was originated from Asian elephant, weighing 22.08 grams and was worth 920 yuan. The Asian elephant was under first class state protecion. On January 18, 2018, Deng surrendered to the police and truthfully confessed his criminal facts. After arriving at case, he reported and exposed Wang and Ding's illegal sale of ivory products. Deng confessed to having illegally purchased rare and endangered wild animals’ manufactured products.
