During 2010, Xinlin Y. obtained goshawks, otters and other endangered wild animals from a Lao man named "Amou" at the Mengkang port in Jiangcheng County, and then he made them into animal specimens. Xinlin Y. placed the specimens in the store he operated, and affixed a price tag of 2900 yuan to the base of one grass owl specimen. On July 6, 2018, during the inspection, Jiangcheng County Forest Public Security Bureau seized 16 specimens of wild animal products such as deer and monitor lizards in store operated by Xinlin Y. After identification, the deer and monitor lizards were under first class state protection; the goshawk, grass owl, silver pheasant and otter were under second class state protection. Xinlin Y. confessed to having illegally sold threatened and endangered wildlife products.
