Abstract

On 4 February 2019 during its traditional anti-poaching operations, the Nouabélé Ndoki National Park patrol caught Moupoto Alexis, Dzongo Urbain and Badimba Destin. They were in possession of two weapons of war and ammunition and had come from a hunt in which they had killed an elephant.

Badimba Destin, Dzongo Urbain and Moumpoto Alexis were sentenced to two years suspended imprisonment and ordered to pay 200000 XAF (two hundred thousand) as fine. The defendants were ordered to pay the costs. The prosecution cancelled the deposit orders issued against them on 11 February 2019. The defendants were ordered to pay 20000 XAF to the Congolese State. The custodial sentence was set at the maximum.
