Abstract

In March 2017, Mapon Gaga, a Congolese living in Souanke with one war weapon and ammunition mobilized local populations to carry out elephant hunting. They killed two elephants, removed the tusks and transported them to Souanke. On their way, the came across youth of the Longa village who ripped out the ivory tusks and the weapon. Mapon Gaga contacted Yenzoh Bruno Achille to get back his products. Yenzoh accepted and went to negotiate with youth and got back the products. Informed of the situation, police services of Souanke caught Yenzoh Bruno Achille while Mapon Gaga and the local people ran away. Yenzoh was brought before the state prosecutor who charged him of illegal possession of a war weapon and ammunition and complicity of illicit circulation with ivory tusks.
