Abstract

On June 13, 2013 at around 12:00PM, Bikouaki Vincent went to visit his traps and noticed that one gorilla was caught in the trap. He decided to kill the animal with a machete and transported to his house. Unfortunately for him, he came across rangers around Liouesso avenue who caught him and seized the animal. Bikouaki Vincent was brought before the state prosecutor and sent to court for trial for the killing of a totally protected animal.

Penalty
Bikouaki Vincent was sentenced to pay XAF 200,000 (two hundred thousand) as fines and XAF 100,000 (one hundred thousand) as damages and court fees. The PMK that served for the killing of the animal was confiscated. The imprisonment in default of payment was fixed to two months for the recovery of court fees, two months for the recovery of fines.
