Abstract

Konda Gaston, Dali Rodrigue, Massehou Joseph and Deba Chancel are all residents of Mokouangonda village. In July 2015, they formed a team to carry out big hunting around Lango village forest inside the Odzala Kokoua. They shared the roles as follows: Konda Gaston and Massehou Joseph the hunters, Dali Rodrigue and Deba Chancel the carriers. With they spears all four entered the forest where they killed four colobus guereza monkeys. On their way back the were caught by rangers on patrol. Brought before the state prosecutor, Konda Gaston, Dali Rodrigue, Massehou Joseph and Deba Chancel were charged of killing and complicity of killing totally protected species and trespassing a protected area.

Konda Gaston, Dali Rodrigue, Massehou Joseph and Deba Chancel sentenced to thirty six months imprisonment, XAF 200,000 (two hundred thousand) as fines each; Konda Gaston, Dali Rodrigue, Massehou Joseph and Deba Chancel were sentenced to pay XAF 1,000,000 (one million) as damages and court fees jointly. The imprisonment in default of payment was fixed to its minimum.
