Abstract

On January 21, 2014 Moungoumba Gape accompanied by his younger brother went to the forest for hunting. While there he killed many animal species including a baby gorilla, a totally protected specie. Moungoumba Gape was caught on the same in the forest camp. His statement was taken, he was brought before the state prosecutor and sent to court for trial.

Moungoumba Gape was sentenced to two years imprisonment and XAF 100,000 (one hundred thousand) as fines and to pay XAF 500,000 (five hundred thousand) as damages and court fees. The execution of the imprisonment term was suspended. The imprisonment in default of payment was fixed to two months for the recovery of fines, two months for court fees and three months for damages.
