Abstract
Arrested in Yokadouma in 2011 for the illegal killing of totally protected animal species (Elephant), complicity and illegal detention of trophies of totally protected animal species (13 Elephant tusks), ISMAILA ISSOUHOU was prosecuted and sentenced before the Court of First Instance, Yokadouma. The Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife deemed the civil damages awarded were dissatisfactory and filed an appeal. However, this appeal was declared inadmissible for late filing of the Ministry’s submissions contrary to the legal provisions in place. Thus, the lower court’s judgment was maintained.
