Abstract
On the 18 July 2013, elements of the conservation service of the Lobeke National Park organized an anti-poaching patrol with the objective of arresting poachers in the park. This patrol led to the arrest of the accused persons MBANGOYE Jean Claude, SAWALA Christian, LAMBO Dieudonné, MOBITI Clovis and MOLONO Jean Claude Ignace for hunting in the said zone and killing totally protected animal species. The accused all admitted committing the offence and confessed. It was based on this that their offence reports were drafted and they were forwarded before the state attorney of the court of First Instance Yokadouma for prosecution.

All the accused were charged with illegal hunting. Mobiti Clovis, Molono Jean Claude and Lambo Dieudonné were charged with illegal killing of totally protected animal species. MBANGOYE Jean Claude and SAWALA Christian were sentenced to thirty (30) days fixed term imprisonment and to pay 60.000 XAF for fines each. LAMBO Dieudonné, MOBITI Clovis and MOLONO Jean Claude Ignace were sentenced to two (2) years fixed terms and 500.000 XAF for fines. They were all to pay 291.900XAF for costs, and 5.500.000 XAF as civil damages to the state of Cameroon represented by the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife.
