Abstract

On May 2, 2018, the conservation service of the Dja Biosphere Reserve received an information on the fact that an important ivory consignment was about to move from a village through the Oveng road axis. The service put in place a response strategy on the road axis and at 8:00PM, a vehicle transporting NDONGO DOUM Stéphane Dominique and NNANGA MIMBA Venant was intercepted at a place called Doum village. After a systematic search, the control agents discovered that ivory tusks were hidden in a compartment at the back of the vehicle. The two suspects were conducted to the Conservation service where they revealed the identity of the owner of ivory in the person of ALIOUM Souley who was subsequently arrested after an entrapment in his house following cooperation of NDONGO and NNANGA. ALIOUM then confessed to be the owner of the tusks.
