Abstract

On the 07 August 2018 in the locality of Zoulabot Ancien, eco-guards arrested the accused for hunting in a protected area. During this hunt, a young elephant was killed by MADJONGO Jean who escaped and was under chase, and the ivories taken by the chief of the Zoulabot Ancien locality. Upon their arrest, the accused revealed that they were contacted by the chief of ZOULABOT Ancien village, to participate in a hunting party. He gave them a gun and three ammunitions to give them to MADJANGO Jean who was already in the forest. After 7 days in the forest, they managed to kill a young elephant and took away its ivories. Upon their arrival in the village, the chief took the gun and the ivories. When arrested, they were found without their National Identity Card. During interrogations, they acknowledged committing the offence as charged and pleaded guilty. At the close of interrogations, they were transmitted before the State Attorney for prosecution.
