Abstract

On the 28 April 2012, the accused Waya Samuel was arrested in the Central Market of Djoum. Flagrante delicto with O7 elephant tails. During interrogations, he claimed that the elephant tails were given to him by his brothers called Bombé Joel and Bekwa, who are the real owners the wildlife products. He claimed that while on his way to Djoum someone gave him a bag to look after and he did not look the contents. Upon his arrival at Djoum, they were arrested by gendarmes and taken to the station where the bag was opened and he was surprised to find the contents. At the close of interrogations, he was transmitted before the State Attorney, together with the seized items as exhibits for prosecution.
