From 2015 to 2016, defendant Hu, in the mahogany store he operated, had 2 suspected ivory brands (identified as Asian elephants or African ivory products, weighing 0.071 kg and worth RMB 2958), one suspected rhino horn were sold to Liu for 1200 yuan. On January 5, 2017, the police seized a total of 116 products in 17 categories including suspected ivory, rhino horn and other wild animal products in Hu's store. After identification, 44 of the suspected ivory products were Asian elephants or African elephants ivory products, weighing 2.4276 kg and worth 101.151 yuan. On the same day, the Forest Public Security Bureau seized a total of 30 products in 7 categories of wild animal products, including suspected ivory and rhino horn that had not been sold. It has been identified that 18 of them are Asian elephants or African elephants ivory products, weighing 0.730 kg and valued at RMB 30.417; 6 of them are horn products of rhinos, which listed in Appendix I of CITES weighing 0.166 kg and worth RMB 41.500. Hu confessed to having illegally purchased, transported and sold threatened and endangered wildlife products.
