Abstract

At 23:00 on December 1, 2013, the defendant Meixu J. arrived at Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport on EK308 flight from Côte d’ Ivoire via Dubai, UAE. She chose to take the no-declaration channel and did not declare any items to the customs. When the customs officers inspected the luggage she carried, six suspected ivory wrapped in tin foil were seized, which were tested as modern elephant ivory products, with a net weight of 14.535 kg and a value of RMB 605629.84.
