Abstract

In October 2018, the appellant Chunhui Z. asked the defendants Tao L. and Jun Z. to travel to the Republic of South Africa to smuggle prohibited items to China according to his agreement with Lu, and Chunhui Z. himself stayed in China and was ready to respond. After arriving in South Africa, under the arrangement of Lu, Tao L. departed from South Africa to Hong Kong on November 2, 2018; on November 3, Jun Z. and a white man carried rhino horn from South Africa to Hong Kong. After meeting with Tao L. and Jun Z. in Hong Kong on November 4, Chunhui Z organized Tao L. and Jun Z. to smuggle the rhino horn from Shenzhen Bay Port, and planned to deliver it to the domestic cargo buyer by Chunhui Z. after entering the country. When the three people entered the country, customs staff found 2.9 kilograms of suspected rhino horn from the luggage carried by Tao L. and 1.7 kilograms of suspected rhino horn from the luggage carried by Jun Z.
