Abstract

In early November 2017, Hailing Z. and Xingyi Y. discussed the purchase of ivory products. Hailing Z. entrusted his cousin Minwei L.(handled separately) to purchase 2 ivory tips and mailed them to "Yangzi Antique Shop" (operated by Xingyi Y.), Hualian Antique City in Nanguan District Changchun at 10 o'clock on November 10, 2017. They were subsequently seized on the spot by public security organs. After identification, two ivory products were made from upper incisors of African or Asian elephants, weighing 3.36 kg and worth RMB 140,001 yuan. At the same time, the public security organs seized a set of ivory chess sets and a ring-shaped ivory product purchased by Xingyi Y. The above-mentioned ivory products were made from the upper incisors of African or Asian elephants, with a weight of 0.321 kg and a value of RMB 13,375.10 yuan. The defendants Hailing Z. and Xingyi Y. confessed to having purchased or sold endangered wildlife products.
