Abstract

Wallo-Lamy José had to borrow money to treat his son and was unable to pay his debt. He decided to leave the village and settle in a forest camp. In March 2019, Wallo-Lamy bought a war weapon (type PMAK 47) and ammunition for XAF 300,000 (three hundred thousand) to carry out elephant hunting. He contacted Zokaba Francis, a renown hunter and Mebiele Gérôme to carry out a big hunting expedition on his behalf. On April 13, 2019, the team entered the forest and few days later came out with two ivory tusks from an elephant they killed and one tusk collected in the forest. On May 02, 2019 Wallo-Lamy decided to come back to the village with ivory and the rest of ammunition. He couldn’t sell the ivory at the village because of rain and was arrested by rangers and police who discovered the ivory and ammunition after house search.
