Abstract

In June 2016, Doupa Roland, Dame René, Ewassepo-Vaniche and Mogno Amidou are all resident at Sembe. Doupa Roland and Ewassepo-Vaniche decided to organized a big hunting expedition with Doupa Roland – a hunter who has hidden his war weapon, type PMK- as team lead. After having put together all the conditions, they entered in the forest and after having collected the weapon they killed one elephant which tusks were carried over by Dame René and Ewassepo-Vaniche to Sembe. At Sembe, the three cronies sold the ivory tusks at XAF 75,000 (seventy-five thousand) to Mogno Amidou. After investigations, Dame René, Ewassepo-Vaniche and Mogno Amidou were arrested by the Sembe police station while Doupa Roland flew away. Brought to the state prosecutor, they were sent to court for trial.

Dame René, Ewassepo-Vaniche and Mogno Amidou were sentenced to three years imprisonment each and XAF 200,000 (two hundred thousand) as fines each and to pay jointly XAF 1,000,000 (one million) as damages and court fees. The imprisonment in default of payment was fixed to its maximum.
