Abstract
On the 3 April 2013, the elements of the conservation service organized an anti-poaching patrol in the zone of Massea, East Region. During this patrol, the accused persons Mbgalla, Mbiango, and Alime were found in possession of elephant meat they had just killed. The accused, Mbiango Jereme declared that the co-offender Dima and some others killed the elephant. On this ground, the elements of the gendamerie of Messok and conservation service proceeded to arrest Dima and brought him to their station. He denied the allegations and claimed he did not partake in the hunting activity. After interrogating all the suspects, they were all forwarded before the state counsel for prosecution.

ALIME Eric, MBIANGO Jereme, and MBGALLA Marcel were found guilty of illegal detention of war arms and ammunitions, illegal killing of totally protected animal species (Elephants) & complicity while Dima Marcel was found not guilty for insufficient incriminating exhibits against him. They were sentenced to two (2) years fixed imprisonment term each, 43.450 XAF for costs, and 1.860.000 XAF for civil damages to the State of Cameroon represented by the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife.
