On the 21st July 2011, the head of the South Antenna of the Dja conservation service received reliable anonymous information on an ongoing illegal wildlife trade in that zone. A team was set up in this regard and after exploiting this information, elements of the conservation service arrested ZE ZE Bedell Alain Stephane in the HAOUSSA neighborhood of Djoum town, in possession of a male mandrill trying to sell it to a buyer. During the preliminary enquiry, the accused recognized all the facts and admitted that he did not have any legal authorization for such activity. Following interrogations, he was transmitted to the State Attorney for prosecution, while the live animal was transmitted to the Mvog-Betsi Zoological garden in Yaoundé.
