Abstract

Agents of the Edea territorial brigade stopped a public transport bus belonging to transport agency labelled ”Garanti voyages” for the usual road control checks. During the checks, a bag containing the elephant ivories hidden in clothes which was placed on top of the bus fell down and the clothes fell out. In an attempt to further verify where the the clothing came from, these officers were surprised to find that the clothing was used to hide the elephant tusks in the bag. There were 30 elephant ivories hidden in the bag. Further investigation by these officials led to the arrest of the accused person, Nourou Abdouraman. During interrogations, he stated that it was a certain ABDEL who had asked him to convey the package to Douala on the basis that an individual would wait for him at the park upon arrival to collect the package. He refused to reveal the identity of his accomplices and pleaded not guilty. At the close of interrogations, he was transmitted before the State Attorney for prosecution.
