Abstract

From the second half of 2012, Shen and defendant Guoshui W. began to communicate in the sale of ivory and ivory products. On December 12 and 21, 2012, Shen successively paid bank transfers totalling RMB 416,000 to Guoshui W. to purchase 17 pieces of ivory and ivory products. Guoshui W. entrusted the passenger bus to transport the ivory and ivory products to the Shenzhen passenger terminal. After Shen took the goods at the passenger terminal, he put the ivory and ivory products in the handicraft shop he operated for profit-making. On December 24, 2012, the public security organ seized the above items in a shop operated by Shen. After identification, 10 of the seized items mentioned above were ivory of African elephants or Asian elephants, and 7 were the ivory manufactured products, which were under first class state protection. Guoshui W. confessed to having illegally sold rare and endangered wild animals’ manufactured products.
