This was an appeal on the decision of the Chief Magistrate that found the appellant guilty of possession of four pieces of raw ivory and two hippo teeth without a permit or licence.

The accused SANGONO Ramses Corneille was arrested in the locality of Bonando, in a zone prohibited from hunting by elements of the conservation service with 03 live tortoises. During interrogations, he acknowledged committing the offence as charged and pleaded guilty.

The Accused was found and arrested in Ntungamo District and later transferred to Kampala CPS. The Accused was found to be in possession of specimen belonging to animals categorized as protected species contrary to the laws of the country. The Accused was charged and prosecuted at the Chief Magistrate Court of Kampala at Buganda Road.
