The accused person on the 30th day of September 2021 was found unlawfully in Rwenzori National Park by UWA rangers! He had also hunted down 6 tree hyraxes and one Rwenzori red duiker which are protected species. He was arrested and taken to Kasese police station and charged accordingly.
Waters Aggrey a ranger with Uganda Wildlife Authority received information from their informant that in Nyakiyumbu area there are armed poachers. On the 13th day of February 2019, a team conducted a search in the mentioned homes of the suspects.
On the 10th day of February 2021 a ranger attached to UWA Kibaale National Park while on patrol found the accused in Kibaale National Park, he had a panga and a hoe while burning charcoal without authority.
On the 22nd day of March 2018, the police got information that there were wildlife species which were being traded at Katwe Kabatoro. The sellers of these species were camped in a bar called Tereseke. The accused was arrested and his co accused took off. The police recovered big skins of crocodiles and teeth of hippopotamus.
Uganda Wildlife Authority security operatives on the 11th day of September 2020 were on patrol at around 9.00am, came across a group of people who took off and managed to arrest one person who was found in possession of a panga, spade and three fishing baskets. He was taken to Kasese police station and then Kasese Chief Magistrates Court.
On the 3rd day of October 2020 the park rangers received information that some people had wildlife species in their homes. A search was conducted and meat was recovered. Some cooked, some not. They were arrested and charged accordingly.
On the 1st day of March 2020, the accused was found in queen Elizabeth National Park with another person cutting palm trees. He was found with the palm trees and charged.
On the 28th day of April 2021 at 2200 hrs, at Kazinga channel in the area called Nyakatanda within the conservation area. The three accused persons were found to have illegally entered the said area. They were arrested and taken to Kasese CPS and charged accordingly.
On the 23rd day of August 2021 at Kanumba within Queen Elizabeth Conservation Area the accused were found by UWA having illegally entered and cultivated yam, cassava and opium. They were also found in possession of 6 wire snares and 5 pangas.
