On the 8 November 2017, elements of the conservation service of the Lobeke National Park organized an anti-poaching patrol in the said park. Three different teams were dispatched into the park for this purpose. The second team arrested the accused flagrante delicto together with other individuals in a camping well installed in the park. The other culprits successfully escaped leading to the sole arrest of the accused, IBEKASSIA Belvie a Central African. Besides the camp, the elements discovered elephant carcass, to which the accused confessed that they organized a large-scale hunting, killed an elephant, extracted its ivories and sold it. He claimed he did not kill the elephant and that his role was to carry food and game for the other culprits who fled the scene. After interrogations, he was forwarded before the State Attorney of the Court of First Instance Yokadouma for hearing.
