In 2017, the accused persons DIOP THIERNO OUMAR Wele, BAGOUNO Florien, NGOMNA Sylvestre & KONGA Eric were arrested and prosecuted before the Bertoua Military Court for illegal hunting without permit and illegal detention of war arms. Following this trial, the court deliberated and found BAGOUNO Florien and NGOMNA Sylvestre not guilty of illegal hunting but guilty of the illegal detention of war arms. They were sentenced to imprisonment terms of fifteen (15) months each and to both pay 80,250 XAF for costs. - DIOP THIERNO OUMAR Wele & KONGA Eric were found guilty of illegal hunting without permit and illegal detention of war arms & ammunitions. They were sentenced to fixed imprisonment terms of three (3) years each and to pay 107, 250 XAF for cost. The Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife did not constitute as civil party during the initial hearing but however proceeded to file an appeal against the judgement for the reward of civil damages.
