On 18th August 2008 at Londoiya village Arumeru District within Arusha region was found in unlawful possession of giraffe meat valued Tsh. 840,000/= the property of Tanzania government. On the material day, two game rangers while on duty found three people with plastic bag containing 50 kg of giraffe meat.
The accused persons on or about 25th December, 2006 at around Makuyuni JKT area within Monduli District, Arusha region were found in unlawful possession of the giraffe meat loaded in a motor vehicle.
On 31st day of March 2009, the accused persons were found by the anti-poaching unit with unlawful possession of government trophy giraffe carcass loaded in the motor vehicle. The first accused was the driver of the vehicle while 2nd and 3rd accused persons are policemen. The accused persons were found not guilty and were therefore acquitted.
