In February 2014, Zheng Mingpu and others drove the reconstructed ship to the Pacific Ocean “Miyagu Island” to hunt red coral illegally. In April, Zheng Mingpu and others hid the red coral in a pond shed in the Linbanghui breeding pond in Hejin Village, Hepu Town, Xiangshan County, and contacted others to sell it. On July 17, 2014, the Xiangshan County Public Security Bureau seized 12.55 kilograms of suspected red coral items, 2 piles of tool nets used for crimes, and 2 freezers on the spot in the work shed contracted by the Linbanghui. Mingpu Z. confessed to having illegally catched or killed precious and endangered species of wildlife.
