During the night of 21 to 22 June 2016 at around 4:00am, gendarmes of the Mitzic brigade patrolling at the Zomoko check point on Mitzic-Larara road controlled the vehicle of Allongifor Emmanuel a Cameroonian. During the search they found ten ivory tusks hidden. Questioned on the origin of the tusks, the suspect declared that he had acquired them at Ovan (Ogooué Ivindo province) from somebody at XAF 1,500,000 (one million five hundred thousand) and that he wanted to resell them in Cameroon. He tried to bribe one of the agents by proposing to give him XAF 1,000,000 (one million) and the latter refused.
