Following a preliminary investigation by the State Attorney of the Court of First Instance, Djoum the accused ESSOMBA Nicodeine was summoned to respond to charges of poaching protected animal species. That on October 30, 1994 in Mintom I, he was arrested by forces of law and order during a control mission in illegal possession of sixteen (16) legs of smoked bush meat without a certificate of origin. During the court hearing, he failed to appear before the court despite being summoned regularly. The court however found sufficient incriminating evidence against the accused to establish his culpability. At the end of the hearing, the matter was adjourned for judgement.
