Abstract

Following the order of the examining magistrate of 31 January 2002, the accused persons MADIAYE Stephane, MEDJO NGONO Jean Marie, MBA NDONGO Jean Edgard and NNA Francis Durand were brought before the court of First Instance, Djoum to respond to charges of abuse of function, corruption, concealment, and detention of trophies of a totally protected animal specie. During the court proceedings only one of the accused MBA NDONGO Jean Edgard appeared while the others failed to. MBA NDONGO Jean Edgard making a request for his temporary release, he supported his argument with the facts that, his detention is no longer necessary for the discovery of the truth and offered sufficient guarantee for his appearance during court appointments. The court passed the ruling on his request for bail, granting him bail and adjourned the matter for debates to continue and execution of the judgement.
