Abstract

The accused Mbole Mireille was prosecuted before the Court of First Instance Sangmelima for the illegal killing of protected animals and contempt of public servants. On October 11, 2016, judgement was passed. She was found guilty and sentenced to six (06) months suspended imprisonment term within three years, to pay 150,000 XAF for fines, 36,200 XAF for costs and 500,000 XAF for civil damages. Dissatisfied with the judgement, counsel for the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, Barrister MANG Barrister ALASSA MBOMBO, for the MINFOF filled an appeal. That it was not deterrent enough and not in accordance to the provisions of the law. The court admitted the appeal and transmitted the matter for hearing.
