Abstract

In June 2011, the accused Salla Ntyam sent 5 people namely Oyane Yannick, Ekomane Ongueng, Samson, Nnanga Justin, Ekomane Ntolo YUlrich and Obiang Madochet to poach in a Gabonese forest. He gave them 02 arms, 43 ammunitions, and other provisions. After having killed five (5) elephants they were caught flagrante delicto by elements of the Gabonese conservation service that were on a joint anti-poaching patrol with the military. Two of the poachers were arrested with elephant ivories while the other three escaped with weapons. One of the arrested was placed under detention while the other seized by the Divisional delegate of Dja and Lobo. During interrogations, Salla pleaded guilty and admitted to providing the arms and ammunitions to the poachers as well as giving orders to poach elephants in a Gabonese forest. At the close of interrogations, he was transmitted before the State Attorney for prosecution.
