On the breaking night of 12 December 2017 the conservation service of Dja Biosphere reserve received reliable information on huge quantities of ivories bound for the Djoum-Oveng highway. The service dispatched a team for the said highway and alerted all wildlife control posts.The team successfully located the vehicle in the Minko’o village.
On September 1st 2016, the accused Kakam Félix organized large scale hunting for elephant poaching. To accomplish this objective, he organized a team constituting the other accused persons with each having specific role to carry out. They killed two elephants and collected 4 Ivory tusks weighing 19kg.
On the 18 July 2015, the conservation service team of the Dja Biosphere reserve arrested the accused, Ondoua Jean Paul & Boulana Patrice in Nkan village, South region. Ondoua invited Boulana to the market on that day for them to sell the leopard skin. On returning, they were arrested by Ecogardes.
In September 2015, the Sub-divisional officer of Salapoumbe arrested the accused, Sammisio Julien at Carrefour SE, Salapoumbe located in the East Region following information received by the said officer about his activities with a renowned poacher called Souka to whom the accused had given some money to carry out poaching activities.
On the 14 July 2014, the conservation service of the Dja Biosphere reserve intercepted a cocoa truck leaving the Djoum locality. The owner of the truck is the accused person, Chingo Zacharie. They carried out a systematic search of the truck and discovered 39 Ivory tusks buried in some cocoa bags. The co-offender, Amadu Yaya, was the driver.
On the 3rd September 2015, the conservation service of the Dja Biosphere reserve arrested the accused persons, Bekono Aline & Ella Belinga Chancelin during an anti-poaching patrol. They were arrested on their motorbike carrying freshly killed 1 yellow bay duiker, 2 mandrills and a smoked Agile Mangabey.
On the night of 24 October 2014, police elements intercepted the accused Nkoumou Zili Paulin, on his motor bike in the town of Djoum. The police proceeded to search the accused person’s luggage systematically and found 9 elephant tails in his bag.
On the 10 February 2016, elements of the forestry and wildlife control post of Mintom during a normal checkpoint routine, found two ivory tusks in the cabin of the truck driven by the accused Bobo Hassoumi and his car companion Hamidou Hamadou.
On the 6 April 2016, elements of the Nki National park carried out a sweep operation in the sectors of Ngoyla, and Eta-Frontière-Djadom-Ntam Carrefour. During this sweep operation, the accused Essogo Daniel and Sabel Yannick were found in possession of freshly killed 6 blue duikers, 2 Sitatungas, 1 Agile Mangabey, and 1 hunting gun.
Elements of the Dja conservation service intercepted the accused, Mohamadou Alioum and a driver in a vehicle, in the town of Djoum, to which the driver escaped the scene. The elements searched the vehicle thoroughly and found 12 Ivory tusks, well hidden in the back seat of the car.
