On 05/10/2010 at 18:00 hours at Warangi area within SENAPA when park rangers were on patrol, they saw people running from the bush. They chased them and managed to arrest one of them. They took him back to the bush that he was running from.
On 02/12/2012, the three accused person were arrested a Meza area within SENAPA and found in possession of weapons and government trophies, namely; 1 knife, two pangas, and five trapping wires, one leg of Zebra and one dry skin of Zebra. Then were taken to Mugumu police station.
On 5/10/2012 at 17 hours when park rangers at Grummet area within SENAPA were on patrol, they saw a person hidden in the bush and successfully arrested him, they found him having two knives and a snare, four pieces of dried meat of the wildebeest, and one skin of the zebra. He was then taken to Mugumu police station.
On the 13th day of October 2010, the accused who was a passenger, travelling to Tarime from Mugumu was arrested relying on information given to Serengeti National Park rangers by a secret informer. That there was a passenger transporting government trophies from Serengeti to Tarime.
The accused and two others on and about 11st December 2011 at Mererani within Simanjiro District in Manyara region were found in possession of government trophies valued at Tshs. 9,024,000/= without a valid license from authorized authority.
On 5/07/2013, the dwelling house of the accused was searched upon information given to the police, she was found in possession of 16 pieces of dry meat of the wildebeest and 8 pieces of dry meat of zebra. She was arrested and taken to Mugumu police station. The case was withdrawn under section 98(8) of the Criminal Procedure Act.
On 25.09.2014 Manyara Park Rangers were patrolling at Kirurumo area Manyara National Park. While patrol, the rangers met the accused and suspected him to be carrying government trophy. When the accused was stopped and searched, they were found in unlawful possession of zebra meat. The accused was found guilty and was therefore convicted.
Defendant Tamba Kaba was convicted of two counts of smuggling elephant ivory and one count of selling elephant ivory, 18 U.S.C. § 545; 16 U.S.C.
This matter is before the Court for the sentencing of the Defendant Tania J. Siyam. On March 21, 2008, Defendant plead guilty to two counts of violating the Lacey Act by virtue of importing and selling raw ivory and plead guilty to two counts smuggling goods into the United States.
Zhifei Li, 29, is from the Shandong Province, China. Since 2011, he has owned and managed an antique shop, Overseas Treasure Finding, located in Jinan City, Shandong, China. Li was involved in purchasing, selling and smuggling Asian art andantiques prior to opening his own business.
