On the 11th day of September 2021, law enforcement officers attached to Queen Elizabeth National Park got intelligence of some poachers who had entered in the park and were laying a bit in areas of Karebero.
Waters Aggrey a ranger with Uganda Wildlife Authority received information from their informant that in Nyakiyumbu area there are armed poachers. On the 13th day of February 2019, a team conducted a search in the mentioned homes of the suspects.
On the 22nd day of March 2018, the police got information that there were wildlife species which were being traded at Katwe Kabatoro. The sellers of these species were camped in a bar called Tereseke. The accused was arrested and his co accused took off. The police recovered big skins of crocodiles and teeth of hippopotamus.
The accused person were arrested with seven hippopotamus teeth amounting to 12kgs. They were taken to Kasese CPS and charged.
The Accused was arrested at Latoro Trading Center and was found to be in possession of specimen belonging to animals categorized as protected species contrary to the laws of the country. The Accused was charged and prosecuted at the Chief Magistrate Court of Nwoya at Nwoya.

Accused A1 and A2 were found on 30/08/2017 found in possession of 127 pieces of hippo teeth weighing 56 kg which they attempted to sell to UWA officers. They were arrested and charged of unlawful possession contrary to section 30 and 75 (b) UWA, Cap 200.
