In August 2020 at Ogooué-Ivindo, a train coming from Libreville hit two elephants. Informed of the situation, agents of the Mimogho national park arrived at the scene and discovered that the animals were not having their tusks.

The Appellant was found in a vehicle in possession of ivory without a valid wildlife use right. He was convicted of the same and it was also ordered that he be deported from Uganda. He was sentence to 2 years and 15 days having considered the time he spent on remand which was 11 months and 15 days.

The Accused was arrested at plot 20 Kumi Road, Mbale District and was transferred to Kampala CPS. The Accused was found to be in possession of specimen belonging to animals categorized as protected species contrary to the laws of the country (2 pieces of elephant ivory weighing 28.8 kg).
