On 6 of November 2005, Kenya Wildlife Service Rangers found 2 men, the current appellants, slaughtering a buffalo within the Ragati forest. Arresting them, they recovered a spear, 2 pangas, a snare and 2 bags. The appellants were charged with the aforesaid offences.

The five appellants have been charged on the aforesaid Count Nos. 2 and 4. The Court, to which the appeals have been made, noted "certain glaring anomalies" with the court of first instance's verdict.

This case is an application for bail pending appeal.

Nyanga Doryon is an element of the public force. From 2014 to 2015, they were issues at the service and salaries were suspended. Early 2016, he went to Pokola for fishing. In April 2016, he received his boss captain Ikama Elenga that he accommodated in a small hotel in Pokola.

In March 2018, Mesmin Armel Okoko Ndzema the owner of a PMAK war weapon contacted Okengo Constant and one known as Diafranco for a big hunting expedition. All three travelled from Makoua to Ignoli village with three ammunition loaders and the PMAK. At Mambili check point they deviated knowing they had hunting material.

Pessakouo Mama and Baligwa Alphonse met for a business related to gold exploitation at Ekokola. Baligwa Alphonse asked Pessakouo Mama to provide him with a motorbike to ease his trips from the village to the exploitation area.

In January 2012, Sinabo Peter was hired as manager of a transport and beverage depot with headquarters in Yaounde. In October 2012, he went on leave in his native country and received a parcel of ivory tusks from one known as Abakar to transport with him for a fee.

On February 18, 2014, rangers on service at PK17 kms from Ouesso in the exercise of their duties found inside the backbooth of a taxi one leopard skin, pangolin scales and a python skin.

On March 15, 2016, Tong Mehounga Ernest received one named Mondoumbou Jugain for a big hunting expedition. Once in the forest they killed two elephants and removed the trophies. It’s in these conditions that Tong provided assistance in the killing of elephants.

Tonga Yvon Richard was staying at Pokola and in possession with four ivory tusks that he acquired from indigenous people and wanted to sell them. He therefore contacted Mongambo Annicet and sent him XAF 10,000 (ten thousand) to transport the tusks from Pokola to Ouesso and get a compensation.
