Accused person was arrested and charged for illegal entry into a wildife conservation area, Utilisation of wildlife products without a wildlife use right contrary to section 30 and 75 of the Wildife Act, Cap 200 to wit Hippo meat and possession of devices capable of causing injury to willife species to wit one metallic spear.

The 15 accused were arrested and charged of illegal entry into a wildlife conservation area and killing wild animals . They both pleaded guilty and were convicted on their own plea on all the three counts.

The Accused was arrested in Agung Todora Parish in Nwoya District and was found to be in possession of specimen belonging to animals categorized as protected species contrary to the laws of the country. The Accused was charged and prosecuted at the Chief Magistrate Court of Nwoya at Nwoya.

Accused persons illegally entered a wildlife conservation area at Nyamsika Valley and killed a wild animal (Hippo). Upon arrest he was found in possession of spears, knives and several pieces of dried Hippo meat.

The arresting officer got information that there were people having hippo teeth in Katunguru trading centre and looking for a buyer.

The accused person on the 18th day of June 2019, illegally entered Queen Elizabeth National Park at Katunguru. He was found in possession of a dead hippopotamus and devices capable of killing that is a spear and panga.

On the 11th day of September 2021, law enforcement officers attached to Queen Elizabeth National Park got intelligence of some poachers who had entered in the park and were laying a bit in areas of Karebero.

Waters Aggrey a ranger with Uganda Wildlife Authority received information from their informant that in Nyakiyumbu area there are armed poachers. On the 13th day of February 2019, a team conducted a search in the mentioned homes of the suspects.

On the 22nd day of March 2018, the police got information that there were wildlife species which were being traded at Katwe Kabatoro. The sellers of these species were camped in a bar called Tereseke. The accused was arrested and his co accused took off. The police recovered big skins of crocodiles and teeth of hippopotamus.

The accused person were arrested with seven hippopotamus teeth amounting to 12kgs. They were taken to Kasese CPS and charged.
