The two Accused had been convicted of unlawfully hunting game. The value of weapons and vehicle used in the commission of the offence exceeded the civil jurisdiction of a Subordinate Court, which accordingly referred the question of forfeiture of these articles to the High Court.

This was an appeal against the decision of the Chief Magistrate that convicted and sentenced the appellants of a series of offences arising out of killing wild animals. On the 16 April 2013, ATTA Edwige was arrested in a protected area situated in the locality of Libongo by elements of the conservation service, in illegal possession of chimpanzee meat, giant pangolin meat, Deer meat and hunting material.
AKOUMA Jean Marie was arrested in the Campo Ma'an National Park without authorization and in possession of a hunting gun. He was arrested by elements of the conservation service of Campo Ma'an national park with a chimpanzee that he killed in the park during a hunting party.
On the 03 June 2015, in the locality of Edea, BANY Simon was by elements of the conservation service in possession of a chimpanzee skull hidden in a bag he was carrying. During interrogations, he acknowledged committing the offences as charged and pleaded guilty.
On the 25 August 2015 in the locality of Pouma, elements of the conservation service arrested the accused, BITJOKA Jean Marie in illegal possession of skulls of chimpanzees, gorillas and other unidentified monkeys. He was about to commercialize them at the time of his arrest and was void of any identity document.
